Issued: 5:15pm, Tuesday 23 January 2024

As at 5:15pm, approximately 221,000 homes, farms and businesses have had their power restored following storm force winds associated with Storm Isha. Approximately 24,000 customers who lost electricity supply during Storm Isha remain without power, predominantly in the Northwest. In addition, 14,000 customers have lost supply following the high winds associated with Storm Jocelyn so far today.

All available ESB Networks resources are deployed in counties Cavan, Donegal, Leitrim, Longford, Mayo, and Sligo. This includes crews and partner contractors who have travelled from less impacted areas of the country.

Met Éireann status Orange and Yellow-level wind and rain warnings associated with Storm Jocelyn are hampering repair work this evening in areas already  significantly impacted by Storm Isha. Crews are continuing to work into the evening where safe to do so.

Many customers will remain without power tonight while some customers will be without power for a number of days.

It is important that any impacted customers who use electrically powered medical devices contact their healthcare professional to make alternative arrangements if necessary.

We apologise for the disruption to family and commercial life this causes, and thank customers across the country, especially those who will be without power again overnight, for their patience as our crews work to safely restore power.

Real-time status on power restoration is being updated regularly and is available on www.PowerCheck.ie and www.ESBNetworks.ie.

An Important Public Safety Message: If you come across fallen wires or damaged electricity network, never, ever touch or approach these as they may be LIVE and extremely dangerous. Please report any damage to electricity infrastructure by calling 1800 372 999.
