To get reconnected you will need:
- To be registered with an electricity supplier, a full list of electricity suppliers can be found here.
- The Meter Point Reference Number (MPRN) of the property.
- A wiring certification
- The ability to be on premises the morning or afternoon of the reconnection. If you are unavailable, you may send a representative over the age of 18.
Contact your electricity supplier with the MPRN to order the reconnection.
A wiring certification will be required for reconnection. Arrange for a registered electrical contractor to check the wiring and provide a safety certification. The electrical contractor will send the wiring certification to Safe Electric who will notify ESB Networks. Once this notification is received, the reconnection order will be released.
Once released, our system will automatically allocate it to an ESB Networks Technician, who will visit the site within the standard timeframe of 2 to 5 working days to complete the reconnection. If for some reason the ESB Networks Technician cannot complete the reconnection, our Scheduling Team will contact you to reschedule.
You will be offered an appointment window between 9am and 1pm, or 1pm and 5pm. An ESB Networks Technician will visit during the appointed window to complete the reconnection. Should a problem arise, they will contact you the day before the appointment. If we do not meet this guarantee, we will pay you €35 as detailed in our Customer Charter.
Once the reconnection is complete, your supplier will receive the meter reading from ESB Networks notifying them to start the billing cycle.
