Accessing your smart meter data

You can view details of your electricity use by signing up to the ESB Networks online account.

Once you’ve created an account, you'll have direct access to your actual energy usage data. This provides insights into how you are using energy in your home, so you can make better informed decisions about your consumption.

The information available allows you to pick a smart tariff that’s right for you. You can even upload your actual consumption data to price comparison websites, making it easier to get accurate advice on which is the best tariff for you.

How to view your electricity usage

View details of your electricity usage

  • Once you have created your account you will see a chart showing your electricity usage over a week, but you can also switch between daily, monthly, or yearly views through the drop down menu above the chart.
  • You can also view a breakdown of your electricity use during the day/ night/ peak periods. The data on the charts can be shown in kilowatts (kW) or kilowatt hours (kWh). Kilowatts measures your power usage and Kilowatt-hours measures your energy use and is shown on your electricity supplier bill.
  • To note, we update this data regularly, but it may take 36-48 hours for data to appear on your account. Only you have access to your smart meter data.
  • If you would like to see more detailed information, you can view the data by means of a HDF (harmonised downloadable file), which shows up to two years of electricity usage. Even if you have changed your supplier in that period.
