Switch it Off

  • Ensure all unnecessary electrical / IT equipment is turned off at the end of the day 
  • Avoid heavy machinery idling during production or cleaning 
  • Encourage staff & customers to take the stairs during peak hours to reduce the number of elevator journeys at peak hours

60 self-checkouts, 5 elevators, 10 fridges = 1380kWh 

Be Smart with Space and Lighting

  • Optimise Office working space. Only using selected meeting rooms and appliances. 

5 air conditioning units,100 LEDs, 20 printers (standby), 20 large screens (standby), 100 monitors (standby) = ~600kWh 

Cleaning

  • Move Cleaning services (Industrial & office based) Outside of peak times & where possible use less energy intensive cleaning methods 

Shifting 5 vacuum cleaners and 2 dishwashes = ~200kWh 

Good Maintenance

  • Ensure fridges are not overstocked, left open, and are set to the correct temperature 
  • Effective maintenance of electrical assets will help ensure that they do not require excess power for the same output 
  • Establish a reporting issue protocol for appliances and assets
