Important information
If you notice flickering lights, appliances not working properly, or low power supply (e.g. kettles boiling slowly or devices failing to turn on), it may be due to low voltage or a fault in the electricity supply. - If you notice anything unusual about your electrical supply, such as flickering lights or kettles being slow to boil, it could be due to voltage fluctuations in your electricity supply.
- Problems can also occur if you are using more electricity than your supply connection is equipped to handle.
Voltage assessment
ESB Networks offers a free service to help customers experiencing voltage issues. You can now log in to your ESB Networks online account to arrange for a voltage assessment at your property. The application process takes 5-10 minutes to complete.
Steps to address voltage issues
- Log into your ESB Networks online account: Access your account to apply for your voltage assessment. If you don't have an account, you can create an account.
- Once you are logged into your account, you will need to link your MPRN and navigate to the service request section and select "Voltage assessment."
- Complete the application form to provide the necessary details about your voltage issues.
- After submitting your request, our team will contact you within 10 working days to assess the problem. This may result in the installation of a voltage recorder at your meter, which will be installed by an ESB Networks technician.
- The voltage reader will monitor the electrical supply to identify any irregularities. Our team will analyse the data to diagnose if you have a voltage issue.
- Based on the findings, ESB Networks will work with you to resolve the voltage issue, ensuring a stable and reliable electrical supply.
- If no voltage issue is found, you will receive a letter advising that the voltage is within acceptable range. ESB Networks delivers electricity in a voltage range of 207 Volts to 253 Volts. This is in accordance with European Standard EN50160.
