I am writing in relation to two incidents that have occurred in Tulla (Co Clare) in relation to Storm Darragh and Storm Eowyn.
In respect of the first storm in December, the power went on the Friday 6th December and was not returned until Tuesday 10 December 2024 whereas one half of Tulla's electricity was restored on the Saturday. I had to move to a hotel on the Sunday and paid expenses in excess of 300.00 euros. It was also very stressful. My bill then for January was an extra 100.00 euros, and I requested the bill because I don't receive them but it still has not arrived on email.
The second storm I have had various messages with the latest being 4 February 2025 for reconnection. There has been no link up in services. I flew to London Saturday evening but my neighbours are still there will no water, and power. It is beyond stressful, as many are getting on in years. All I can do from here is make Freedom of Information requests to investigate this further and to lobby TD's to bring some resources to East Clare.
I request all records, investigative reports, correspondence, engineers reports, reports on site by electricians, documents and/or any recommendations following any investigations into Storm Darragh and works carried out in the area. Further again in Storm Eowyn power came back to one half of Tulla, so again I request all records, investigative reports, engineers reports, electrician reports on site, documents and/or any recommendations following Storm Eowyn and why there is a problem with restoring power fully in Tulla. We need to learn from these two storms going forward.FOI00853
