Unclip and reclip your overhead electricity cable
In certain situations, you may need an overhead electricity cable to be removed to facilitate works around your property. Some circumstances where this may be needed include:
- Cleaning/replacing the fascia and soffit
- Plastering external wall of house
- Roof repairs/renovation
ESB Networks unclip the cable from its permanent position to facilitate the works. When the works are complete, a reclip can be requested where ESB Networks will reattach the cable to its original location.
If you are requesting a permanent relocation of your service, i.e. due to an extension, this would require a service alteration
How to apply
Unclip
You can apply for the cable unclip service by calling the ESB Networks Customer Contact Centre (NCCC) at 1800 372 757
Once the application has been processed, we aim to complete the work within 10 working days. However, this timeframe will be longer in large urban areas, so please contact ESB Networks to give us as much notice as possible.
Reclip
- Log into your ESB Networks Online account to apply for your Reclip service. If you don't have an account, you can create an account.
- Once you are logged into your account, you will need to link your MPRN and navigate to the service request section and select "Reclip Service"
- Complete the application form.
- After submitting your request, our team will aim to complete this work as soon as possible.
