Winter 2025 grid resilience plan

Enhancing the electricity network resilience for our customers

ESB Networks is committed to enhancing the resilience of the electricity supply to homes, farms and businesses in advance of winter by, especially in areas most impacted by severe weather. Through the Winter 2025 Grid Resilience Plan we’re investing in targeted upgrades to improve reliability, reduce outages, and ensure communities stay connected when it matters most.

A significant part of this work involves identifying and addressing risks posed by forestry, and other timber and vegetation that may potentially impact the electricity infrastructure in advance of future extreme weather events. We are undertaking tree and vegetation maintenance, widening forest corridors, replacing aging wooden poles and equipment across Ireland.

These works will be conducted in the following counties over the coming months, Cavan, Clare, Donegal, Galway, Leitrim, Longford, Mayo, Monaghan, Roscommon, Sligo and Westmeath.

Our investment in resilience is to deliver a more reliable electricity network for our customers.
