The Retail Market System plan sets out ESB Networks’ five-year development of the retail market systems, in accordance with the DSO licence and obligations as Distribution System Operator (DSO). The information contained within the Retail Market System Development Plan is of most relevance to the CRU and Market Participants in the Irish Retail Electricity Market who are familiar with the retail market design, as well as the governance and change management processes that support the operation and development of the retail market. The Consultation is open from 24th August 2026 – 28th September 2026. ESB Networks welcomes feedback from interested stakeholders. Feedback received will be reviewed following the closure of the consultation.
EirGrid and ESB Networks, as TSO and TAO respectively, today publish for consultation the Draft Annual Electricity Transmission Performance Report 2025 and the Draft Investment Planning and Delivery Report 2025.
ESB Networks, in its capacity as Distribution System Operator, today publishes for consultation the draft Distribution System Annual Performance Report 2025. Aligning with the CRU’s requirements for PR5, this report is intended to provide customers, industry participants and other interested parties with a clear, accessible, comprehensive, but non-technical report on Distribution System activities for 2025.

The consultation seeks stakeholder views on the future development of Transmission System Operator (TSO) and Transmission Asset Owner (TAO) coordination to support the delivery of a secure, flexible and low-carbon electricity system.

ESB Networks and EirGrid are seeking stakeholder feedback on the development of the PR6 TSO/DSO Joint Incentive Multi-Year Plan 2027–2030, which will set out the priorities and activities that will guide TSO/DSO coordination through the remainder of the PR6 period. The consultation is open from 20 July to 28 August 2026. Feedback received will help shape the final plan before submission to the Commission for Regulation of Utilities (CRU) in September 2026.
Local Business Flex is an initiative that will offer two flexibility products to support our net zero targets through demand-side response. The proposed launch is targeted for the latter half of 2026, with contractual arrangements running to the end of 2030. Procurement will follow a direct‑award approach and will remain open for approximately one year after launch. This initiative is aimed at non‑domestic customers and will be deployed in selected localised areas. These locations will be confirmed in the coming months and published ahead of the launch.
