Pursuant to the Freedom of Information Act 2014, I am writing to request information held by the Electricity Supply Board (ESB) concerning power outages in Ireland in the years 2022 and 2023, specifically those related to wildlife, birds, and animals. I am seeking a summary of data regarding the number and reasons for power outages caused by wildlife, birds, and animals during this period. Specifically, I request the following information:

  • Number of Power Outages: A summary of the total number of power outages that occurred in Ireland during the calendar years 2022 and 2023.
  • Reasons for Power Outages: A detailed breakdown of the reasons for power outages caused by wildlife, birds, and animals during the aforementioned years, including the types of wildlife involved (if available), the locations of the outages, and the duration of each outage.
  • Mitigation Measures: Any information available on the measures taken by ESB to mitigate power outages caused by wildlife, birds, and animals during 2022 and 2023.
