Get planned outage updates
Planned outages
To maintain a safe and reliable power supply, we occasionally need to switch off electricity for scheduled maintenance or repairs to our network. We’ll always notify you at least two days in advance by postcard, and may also send text message updates.
Stay informed; stay prepared - SMS text alerts for planned outages
To help you plan ahead and minimise any inconvenience, ESB Networks offers SMS updates about planned electricity outages at your address.
Once we have your mobile number, we’ll automatically keep you informed with timely SMS messages. It’s all part of our commitment to supporting you with reliable service and clear communication.
Staying informed is easy, just log in or register for your ESB Networks online account where you can update your mobile number and manage your notification preferences.

Keeping you informed of an outage
Planned outages are shown as an amber pin on PowerCheck, along with any updates.
Safety warning
You should regard the connection to your house as being LIVE during all outages as electricity supply may be restored at any time, sometimes for brief periods, while work is being carried out.
- During any interruption it is advisable to switch off all electronic equipment and any other equipment which could result in a safety hazard when the power is restored.
- If you have an ELECTRICAL GENERATOR please ensure that it complies with and is connected in accordance with the NSAI - National Standards Authority of Ireland wiring rules so that it cannot feed into the ESB Network System. This is in the interests of your own safety and that of other customers.
