On the 10th June 2020, the Commission for Regulation of Utilities (CRU) published a  Decision Paper - Enduring Connection Policy Stage 2 (ECP-2) CRU/20/060 (the “CRU Decision Paper”), following a CRU Consultation - Enduring Connection Policy Stage 2 (ECP-2) - Proposed Decision CRU/19/143. 

As directed by the CRU, this standard application form has been published to facilitate the implementation of Section 2.9 of the CRU Decision Paper. This application form should not be used for any other purpose.

Modification No. 43 Proposed Distribution Code structural changes to facilitate adoption of RfG (and subsequent) Network Codes

The CRU has approved Modification No. 43 of the Distribution Code. This modification proposal describes the proposed structural changes to the Code that will facilitate the inclusion of new and changed content driven by the adoption of the Requirements for Generators [RfG], in the first instance. Some of the proposed changes will also facilitate the adoption of parts of other Codes such as the Demand Connection Code, in due course.

CONSULTATION

Electrification of Heat and Transport Strategy

Background

ESB Networks Electrification Strategy will set out our vision and approach to facilitating the electrification of heat and transport. Through our public consultation we are seeking feedback on this draft strategy from our customers and stakeholders to ensure alignment with their ambitions and expectations.

Our purpose and commitment to our customers has always been to provide a safe, secure and resilient supply of electricity to our customers. This role is evolving as we develop the distribution system enable Ireland’s transition to a low carbon economy as our customers embrace technologies such as heat pumps, electric vehicles and microgeneration. ESB Networks has a key role to play in facilitating the transition to a low carbon society and supporting our customers to use low carbon, renewables based electricity to drive carbon out of the heat and transport sectors.

Consultation Process

As part of ESB Networks’ ongoing collaboration and communication with our customers, there are a series of questions within this consultation where we would welcome your feedback.

Responses to the consultation should be sent to innovationfeedback@esbnetworks.ie, with the consultation period closing on Friday 20th November at 5pm.  

To support the development of the strategy we will be holding an online stakeholder event on 6th November 2020. Details of the stakeholder event will be issued at a later date.

Proposal for General Application of DCC Requirements for Ireland

The consultation on the parameters for the Demand Connection Code [DCC] has now closed. This proposal document is produced by ESB Networks in their role as the Distribution System Operator in Ireland.  This document contains the proposed parameters and explanations as to the reasons for their adoption, which are now formally submitted to the Commission for Regulation of Utilities [CRU] for approval.  It also contains responses to the consultation.
